What’s the difference between an accountant and a bookkeeper? Hi, my name’s Scott Trevathan and I’m the founder of Go Global Bookkeeping. And a lot of business owners come to me and say, what is the difference between an accountant and a bookkeeper? Well, basically a bookkeeper takes the core numbers, the core inputs and outputs of your business and puts them in a usable format so that you, the business owner, can drive your business better.
Your accountant on the other hand takes that higher level information and adds more strategic advice, as well as doing the year end tax and compliance type of work that needs to be done so that your business can continue. There’s a little bit of gray area between where a bookkeeper ends and where an accountant starts. But I think the important thing to understand is that you really need both people on your business team.
So if you know someone who’s confused about what the difference is between an accountant and a bookkeeper, why don’t you tag them on the video below?
